A bit of history
The history of Frankfurt dates back to the year 794, in that time a fortress was build for everybody who wanted to cross the river Main without paying anything.
All during history Frankfurt suffered heavily from all kinds of disasters.
There were plagues, attacks, occupations, and even in recent history bombings.
But as history has proven somehow Frankfurt always manages to revive from its misery and nowadays the city florishes like never before.
Shopping in Frankfurt
If you love to shop then Frankfurt is a great place to be, the stores are a combination of well-known names and designer good with traditional Bavarian crafts. The best thing to do is to find out for yourself strolling down the streets with your classmates or colleague you met during your study or internship in Frankfurt. By doing this you will be able to explore all the side streets for the small boutiques.

Parks and Sights in Frankfurt
Frankfurt has plenty of parks and gardens that you can go and relax in whilst you are studying in Frankfurt as an international student. Listed below are some parks or gardens worth paying a visit when you are in Frankfurt.
Bethmannpark
This park is located in front of Friedberger Tor and opened to the public in 1952, you should really visit the Chinese Gardens - with pagoda. You can play chess by using the park's metre-high chess pieces. However, the park is located off the busy Friedberger Landstraße and, as such, is not the most peaceful of Frankfurt's green spaces. Yet its location is very easy to reach which makes it perfect for a short walk during your break.
Grüneburgpark & Schönhof-Pavillon
Located in the Westend area, Grüneburgpark is one of the biggest green spaces in the city, the park has beautiful paths for strolling and jogging as well as spacious lawns to rest or play Football. The park was founded in 1789 by P. Tehmann-Metzler and was given to the city of Frankfurt in 1940. it really pays to visit this beautiful park, you’ll notice that you automattically start to relax when you enter the park.
Holzhausen Park
If you like architecture this park is really worth visiting.the fantastic suburban architecture like the peculiar Holzhausenschlösschen; a moated baroque summer residence a delight to see and the castle houses a variety of shows and artists all during the year.
Lohrberg
Head to the 590m-high Lohrberg, 6km northeast of the city, where you can enjoy grand views of the surrounding Rhine-Main area as well as Frankfurt's skyline. Also nearby is Frankfurt's last vineyard, the Lohrberger Hang. A beer garden in the park serves applewine and, of course, beer.
